ChimKnee Sweeps are proud to offer an honest value for money service with a clear pricing structure which is transparent so that there are no hidden surprises. All sweeps are carried out to national standards and insurance industry recognised certificate of sweeping from The Guild of Master Chimney Sweeps are given with every sweep.
As every chimney is different it is sometimes difficult to estimate exact costs before arrival, but the prices below are based on experience and are a good guide for most customers where a regular annual sweep has been carried out.
Domestic Chimney Sweeping Service
This is a standard sweep for lined flues on open fires, Multi-fuel Stoves or wood burning stoves. Please note that if, during the sweep, a bird’s nest is discovered, then its removal is an extra, chargeable service. Due to the time it takes to remove nests, it may be necessary to book a further appointment.
Domestic Unlined Stoves
An unlined sweep is typically for open fires, multi-fuel stoves and wood burning stoves that have no liner installed into the flue. This type of sweep is slightly more expensive because a masonry flue is usually larger and the condensing of gasses in a colder flue produces more soot deposits. This requires additional cleaning to remove the soot off the register plate through a hatch which is more time consuming.
Evening and weekend appointments
For your convenience, appointments are available on Monday and Wednesday evenings. Saturday morning appointments are also available. There is a surcharge applicable for this service
ChimKnee Sweeps offer a full range of stove servicing. We recommend this is done as part of a sweep where possible and your requirements should be discussed prior to booking. Prices will vary dependent on the make and model of stove and the parts required. We can provide:
- Stove Rope Replacement
- Stove Glass
- Baffle/Throat Plates
- Fire Bricks
- Some Stove Parts
Carbon Monoxide Alarm Supplied and Fitted
As qualified sweeps we need to ensure that a Carbon monoxide alarm is fitted correctly for every appliance and is compliant with modern standards and still in within its expiry date. New CO alarms can be fitted at request.
Bird’s Nest Removal
Birds nest can vary in size from a few feet to the entire length of the flue. For this reason, it is not possible to provide a standard price. The price will depend upon the time and complexity needed to remove the nest. After the nest is removed a camera is put up the entire length of the chimney to ensure no nest material has been missed. This service also includes a full sweep.
Due to the multiple flue ways inside this type of appliance and the cleaning out of larger fire boxes there is a surcharge to the above prices.
Large Inglenook Open Fire
Where the opening into the room is over 4ft in width additional charges may apply. Please contact us for further information.
This type of sweep is generally required by installers before a new appliance can be fitted. This is to ensure that all soot is removed from the flue in preparation for installation. This is usually required whether a liner is to be fitted or not. This sweep is also applicable when preparing to close off a flue, this is to prevent damp forming.
